For second grade, Julia is required to log her reading minutes each day, with a minimum of 20 minutes per day (an easy task for her). She
usually does her reading at my sister's home before school. Later that
day she tells me her minutes, and we log them on her calendar. So she
had already accomplished her daily reading with 43 minutes. After school, she
disappeared for about an hour at my sister's while Deanna and I were
talking and getting dinner ready. When she was called up for dinner, she
appeared, not surprisingly, with a book in her hand. I said, "Wow,
great, since we already logged your minutes for today, we can count an
hour on tomorrow."
"Well," said she, "I only read about 30
minutes. The rest of the time I was thinking about what it would be like
to live in Paris."
She is crazy, and I do love that so so much.
